Class Saint - St Joseph

Saint Joseph

RE

Our Class Saint this year is St Joseph We will be learning all about St Joseph throughout the year and we will be                                       celebrating his Feast Day on the 21st March.

This half term we are going to be thinking about ‘Lent and ‘People who Help Us’ We will continue to think about and             discuss the celebrations of Shrove Tuesday/Ash Wednesday and how Lent is a time where people choose to go without something and share with others just like Jesus did. Following Jesus’ example, children will be asked to think about their freedom                                                                                      of choices and how their choices can help others.                                                                          Children will also share their God given talent's and discuss how they can use their talents to help others.

English

  • Our Focus Story this ½ term is ‘Handa’s Suprise.’ We will also share the story ‘SUPERTATO’ and other stories that link in with our topics ‘superheroes’ and ‘healthy eating.’
  •  Children will have daily access to non-fiction books within the reading area, these books contain information about Florence nightingale, healthy eating and how to stay healthy.
  • We will also continue to think carefully about how we hold our pencil for drawing and writing. This term children will be continuing to write CVC words, simple sentences/captions using CVC words and will be writing a list of instructions.
  • Our Writing target this term is to ‘Write my first and second name using the correct letter formation.’

This term we will continue to use ‘talk for writing’ to perform our story focus ‘Handa’s Suprise.’
